More on children and reading

Following on from recent posts on the importance of reading for children, here’s an infographic from Canada on children and digital reading. It was published on The Digital Reader and was prepared by BookNet Canada and is based on a study they recently published on kids and e-reading.

Interestingly, in the UK, other research has found that “32% of children still read books for pleasure on a daily basis, the second most popular activity behind watching TV (36%)”. However, the survey of 2000 British children by Nielsen Book found that reading, along with many other activities, is declining when looked at on a weekly basis, whilst ‘game apps’ are increasing. The Guardian article has a lot more detail.
